WinterCabin, a summer or winter getaway, where the stars sleep beneath the northern lights.

WinterCabin - Individual Cabins and Bed & Breakfast

WinterCabin Writers Retreat B and B--Individual Cabins. Open June 1 through August 31

"...you have created the ideal place for...seeking peace, solitude and rejuvenation--in keeping with the spirit of....Tok, where indian tribes once gathered in peace. That is your gift to travelers who are fortunate enough to meet you. Those who pass through and hear your story can go on...in greater peace!" D.S., Ontario

Bed and Breakfast sign in Tok, Alaska.

WinterCabin offers you peaceful surroundings in harmony with nature. "Rough it," the easy way! Truly Alaskan, clean and beautiful, these new log cabins are decorated in bear/wolf/Alaskana and celebrity themes. Your hostess is Donna Blasor-Bernhardt, author and the Alaska Highway's poet laureate. Built on the original site of the world-famous Tent In Tok, naturally cool in the summer, yet warm in the winter, wildflowers gaily bloom on their sod roofs.  WinterCabin is close enough to town to be convenient, yet tucked back on ten acres just enough to offer peace and quiet, even anonymity if you so desire. "Forget Westmark, Hilton, and Hyatt! The only way to experience Alaska is to live it through people like you, Donna. The others are just 'places"... WinterCabin is 'life'." M.F., Florida

Lunch and dinner can be bought at one of the many restaurants in Tok.)
We're proud to offer our guests free gold panning, too.
Once a reservation is made you will be charged, whether or not you keep it.

Tok residents enjoy excellent healthy water, the best water in the state. Here at WinterCabin we have an artesian well bubbling with sparkling clear water. In keeping with Alaskan tradition, we feature a very large, fully modern, separate shared bathhouse complete with toilet, sinks, and ALASKA-size tub/shower, and LOTS of hot water. Immerse yourself in the pure, clear water that Tok is known for. Click here to see photos of our beautiful "Bardsroom Bathhouse."

"...very comfortable...super bath!" J.H. England

Traveling? Unwind from your day's travels on excellent beds. Play a game of horseshoes, read a book, explore Donna's greenhouse, take a walk, or a hot bath. Relax in a quiet atmosphere and absorb the Alaskan way of life. Bring your computer, do research, write your next book or just relax in peaceful harmony.  We can also help you make arrangements for river trips, flightseeing or a day of dog mushing. See the Tok page for ideas of what's in and around Tok, interesting side trips etc.

this bear loves his lodging in Tok, Alaska!

Chainsaw art bear adorns cabin porch.

Are you a creative person looking for a quiet getaway? Wintercabin is the place for you. Sit on the porch, watch the midnight sun and enjoy wild birds, bunnies and squirrels cavorting across the grass. Igor, a young raven with a broken leg I rescued and befriended several years ago, makes frequent visits back to WinterCabin, announcing his arrival and expecting a hello from all who visit here. Occasionally you may see a fox out on the lawn. In the winter, moose (one in particular) frequent the area. Kick back, enjoy, and renew your inspiration and creative spirit.
